A week after the 2016 Presidential Election, Rodrigo Duterte make his first public appearance as the President Elect of the Philippines in Davao City. 

Last Sunday night, President Rody met his team and some candidates for top positions on his administration. Former defense secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. was one of the top choice to be the defense chief, he was known because of his effort when typhoon Ondoy hit the national capital region in September 2009.

Art Tugade, former classmate of Pres-elect Duterte in San Beda will be appointed as his Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry. Tugade was also appointed president of Clark Development Corp. by President Aquino III in 2012.

Alan Peter Cayetano offered to choose between Department of Justice and Department of Foreign Affairs. While the 1 year appointment ban is still active, Panelo Yasay will be the acting DFA secretary. Cayetano is the running mate of Pres-Elect Duterte last May 9 Elections and also a former Senator.

Salvador Panelo, Legal counsel of Rody Duterte will be his Presidential Spokesperson
and Peter Laurel, President of Lyceum of the Philippine University – Batangas offered Department of Education.

Hera are also some of the issues tackled and mention by Pres-elect Rody Duterte:
  • No more Lakbay Aral 
  • No licensing of heavy firearms 
  • War against drug must be start in the Baranggay Level
  • No court order needed to stop noise pollution
  • No Drinking of Alcohol and smoking in public places
  • A Department for Overseas Workers
  • No more uniforms for student. 
  • Mindanao issues and federalism
  • Scarborough Shoal Issue
Earlier, Duterte also revealed his top choices to lead the Arm Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police. He is considering Lt. General Ricardo Visaya for the postion of AFP chief of staff and three former Davao city police chief are candidates for PNP chief. These are Chief superintendent Ronald Dela Rosa, Chief superintendent Ramon Apolinario and Sr. Supt Rene Aspera.
