Reasons Why Miriam Defensor-Santiago Was Least Voted For Philippine Presidency

<span style="text-align: justify;">The Philippine National Election is almost in near finish. 53+ million voters had already casted their votes to elect the new government officials that will serve them for the next three or six years (In case of the president, the vice president, and the 12 senators). So far in the unofficial tallies as of this moment, it is the Mayor of Davao City, Rodrigo Duterte that leads the presidency while the Representative of the Third District of Camarines Sur, Leni Robredo leads the vice presidency with a small margin against Senator Bongbong Marcos.</span></div>

As a voter myself, I also casted my votes on the precint where I am voting, somewhere here in Makati. I voted, of course, Rodrigo Duterte and Bongbong Marcos as my vice president. After I vote, I just spent the day waiting for the election results and the results shown on TV were.</div>

I am satisfied of the result that was shown on the television but it also made me notice that Miriam Defensor-Santiago is on the second to the last rank. As I researched her <a href="http://miriam.com.ph/aboutmiriam.php" target="_blank">background</a>, on all the presidential candidates, she is the most qualified. Rodrigo Duterte comes second to her. The election result that was shown had made me conclude these reasons on why Miriam was least voted for Philippine Presidency.</div>

<li><b>She has the least exposure.</b><br />Yes, indeed she has the least exposure on the campaigns. In my observations from the start of the campaign, I didn't even managed to see a "Miriam for President" TV campaign. Same on the radios. I didn't even managed to hear such campaign. What she did was just show herself on the debates and explain her platform on different issues in our country and also, she appeared as guest speakers of some conferences and some school-related activities. Another thing is that she used the social media and its youth users to campaign for her, thus made her the least (None at all rather) spender on the presidential campaign.</li>
<li><b>She has cancer, she'll die in office.</b><br />This reason was made out by those persons who didn't voted her. She was not voted because she is sick? On all the reasons I listed here, this is the most unreasonable. As I can see on the personality of Miriam, I know she can overcome anything in order to serve the country and cancer is just a little problem for her. Yes, we care for her that's why we didn't voted for her but she cares a lot for the Filipino people that she decided to run for presidency even if her body is infested by cancer.</li>
<li><b>She picked Bongbong Marcos as her tandem for vice president.</b><br />I think everyone (Especially the Martial Law victims) was shocked when she announced that she will go a collaboration with Bongbong Marcos on the campaign going to the Malacañang. I know she had the valid reasons for picking him as her tandem and no one would even attempt to question it to her. Bongbong Marcos was even her student way back, but as we all know, Marcoses (The family itself) had created a very negative hype to the Filipinos because of the Martial Law, the assasination of Ninoy Aquino, as well as the ill-gotten wealth of their family. Knowing that she will have a tandem with a Marcos, it became a large factor that made her the least to be voted in the elections.</li>
<li><b>The Filipino Perfectionist Stereotype</b><br /><b>(This part is my own opinion already)</b> We all know that Miriam is a very intelligent person, No one even managed to go mudslinging with Miriam because of her intelligence. This intelligence she possess is one of the reasons why she is the most qualified to run the Philippines as its president, but this intelligence is also the reason as well why she is the least voted in the elections. Filipinos had stereotyped her as a perfectionist, and will not listen to the Filipino people if they had ideas that are helpful but not perfect. Most of the Filipinos are poor and somehow, want themselves to have a comfortable life under a good-governing president. These Filipinos feel that Miriam deserves to be president but because of stereotyping, they feel that if she wins, she'll just ignore their ideas for a comfortable life because it was not perfect or good after all, and it will not give a win-win result. Miriam is known to decisions that favors both parties a win-win result but with an attitude of Filipinos "that wants to gain the upperhand at all times", I think that made Filipinos stererotype the highly intelligent Miriam.</li>

She had already ran for presidency for three times on different ocassions, She was defeated by Fidel V. Ramos in 1992, by Joseph Estrada in 1998, and this 2016 by Rodrigo Duterte. Because of the results of the past presidential elections she participated in, she was dubbed in social media <i>"The Best Philippine President We Never Had"</i>.</div>

In my sleep addled state however, it was pretty terrifying for a few seconds. I didn’t know if I was dreaming, or what was going on.</span></blockquote>

My wife died ten years ago. As she said good morning and walked over to him he picked up her shirt a little and crooked his head to the side. She asked him what he was doing and he said, “looking for my baby sister in your tummy.” She laughed it off as a weird kid imagination thing. We found out later that at the time she was 2 weeks pregnant and it was, in fact, a girl. We are due in September. We had never really had the talk about where babies come from nor did we talk about having another child at all around him. So spooky.</span></blockquote>

They were renovating the basement one day while I was visiting. I was down there alone with their son, who was barely 2 at the time, and could not yet speak in full sentences. He took my hand and led me over to a brick chimney-like thing thing, with a rusty metal door on it. He looked up and said “That’s where the dead babies go.”</span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="background-color: white;">I was horrified. Firstly, because, like I said, the kid could barely talk, let alone say something like that. I doubt he even knew what ‘dead’ meant. I’m positive that no one would have told him that, and there were no older kids around that would have said that as a joke. Still creeps me out to this day.</span> </span></blockquote>

When my son was in Kindergarten I received a call from his teacher while at work saying he refused to go outside at recess time and was sitting there terrified. He said there was a guy named Otie who had brown hair and a brown beard who kept telling him to “come here buddy” over and over while he was playing outside before school started. They reviewed tapes and didn’t see anyone. Scared the crap out of me that some man was trying to abduct him but I’m pretty sure he either sees ghosts or has a very active imagination. He also said this guy talked to him at the bus stop or outside his window (on the 2nd floor). He also refused to go anywhere near an entire half of one of our old homes when he was 1-2 years old. He would just stand in the doorway and point.</blockquote>

freedom but will end up in a realization that no one is waiting for them, no
one is willing to accept that they exist, that no one really care about them outside
the walls. It is emphasize in a scene when one of Andy and Red friend. Brooks
(James Whitmore) is freed on parole, but unable to adjust in a world after 50
years in prison without a daily routine, without walls and guards, he hangs
himself.<o:p></o:p></span><br />

only a box office of $28.3 million, in Hollywood this is considered as a
failure. One of the reasons is that the word “Shawshank” before is not that
Iconic unlike today. Prison Drama will not sell to women and a love between two
men best friends is not a win-win film in those years. But it became the most
rented film in the year 1995. It ranks #2 in the IMD’s Top 250 Films. Shawshank
Redemption just proves that Failure is not a life sentence.<o:p></o:p></span><br />

PLDT Home BRO/Ultera Review

<p>I have been a subscriber of PLDT Home Bro for several months now and thinking to upgrade my plan or change my ISP right after my contract with them end, but before I do that let me have a review for this ISP.<br />
<br />
Home BRO was previously known as Smart Bro, it is a wireless canopy-based broadband by PLDT and Smart. For 990/Month with free installation you can have a 2mbps wireless connection at your home.<br />
<br />
If you will visit PLDT website today, you will notice that once you click the Home bro link it will just redirect you to their new product, the Ultera. It is because <b>PLDT started killing off its Canopy and expanding its new wireless service using LTE</b>, which is currenltly the most advance wireless technology today.<br />
<br />
If you're also a home bro subscribers like me, I guess you too have received some phone calls from their representatives offering you a free upgrade to their Ultera. The first time they call, I said that I will think about it, when I surf the net for reviews about their experience with ultera I haven't read anything positive. Their main complain is the maximum data usage per month, you can have a 30gb per month at their plan 990 and once you reach the maximum usage per day, <b>your speed will drop to 256kbps.</b><br />

My cousin is been a subscriber of Ultera for quite some time now. He said that the data usage allowance is not only the problem, but also the speed reliability. Ultera is offering 3 plans. 3mbps for 990, 5mbps for 1599 and 10mbps for 1999. Yes, you cannot expect that you can always have the speed you ask and they offered for, but at least the 50 percent of the speed you paid for? My cousin said that speed he experiencing right now is like he's already reach the maximum usage per day.<br />

And what if he reach the maximum usage per day? His facebook loads like forever, He get always disconnected on Clash of clans and in some online game. Youtube automatically set its video quality to 144p. Ouch.<br />

Base on my research on some reviews, some people also get reliable speed fom their Ultera. For the first 2 months or less and after that the speed drops and some are close or within the LTE coverage in their areas. But I will not risk my 36 months lock-in period because a very few people experience a 'reliable' speed.<br />
<br />
So when they called again, I decline for upgrade and said that I'm planning to upgrade for a DSL broadband.<br />
<br />
My first month as a Home BRO user was just like hell. websites are just keep loading. Images and links are always broken. But when I called their customer service and fix my canopy everything turn fine. <b>I get an average speed of 0.7 mbps to 1.3 mbps for my plan 990</b>. The only thing I notice that every time the month is about to end my speed always drops at 0.22 Mbps, this is when I found out that they also have a maximum data usage per month. I ask them what is their monthly allowance for canopy user but they told me that they don't have the information regarding the maximum data allowance on Home Bro, I read on some website that it's 30gb to 50gb per month.<br />

Another thing that I hate about PLDT is their customer care, I'm also a subscriber of Globe postpaid and Sky Cable but I don't experience any problem with them. Yes they do respond on my Facebook messages but it will took days for them to respond. When I'm calling their customer hotlines, my average waiting time for just to connect me to one of they're agents is 15 minutes. Unlike with Sky Cable, I even have a long conversation with one of their agents in Facebook about my inquiry about their broadband.<br />
<br />
That's it, And my final words are that before you subscribes to any internet plan available in our country research for some reviews first, we cannot trust their advertisements anymore. It is best to ask your neighbor or anyone near your location what is their ISP and their experience with it. Because yes, location matters, even if the Globe is the worst internet provider here in the Philippines, there are still some place experience a reliable speed from them. It's still up to you and your knowledge where you will invest your money.<br />
