In late 2011, A sex strike launched by women in Dado, Maguindanao to bring back the peace and order in the village and nearby communities.

It has it roots in Greek playright Aristophanes' "Lysistrata."


Hasna Kandatu, who led sex strike last year to stop the violence in the Mindanao named as one of the 150 world's fearless women. Kandatu was the only filipina on the list that included singers Adele and Lady Gaga, actresses Meryl Steep and Angelina Jolie, US Sec. of state Hillary Clinton, Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, German Chancellor Angela Merkel.




The sex strike strategy worked it took only days struggles to quel and the road reopen again. There was also a report that within days after the women in Mindanao held the sex strike peace started to prevail in the village. 



According to the Daily Beast these women started revolution, opened schools and fostered a "brave new generation"
