The Million Peso Flagpole

The controversial photo showing the construction details of the flagpole soon to be rise in Luneta went viral on facebook after seeing that the total cost is nearly 8 millions pesos.

The photo was uploaded just after the Million People March against the Pork Barrel and corruption held in Luneta last August 26, 2013.

Dir. Reynalno Tagundando of the Department of Public Works and Highway NCR, that the project went through a bidding, and not overpriced. He also explained that the specifications,size, including the foundations were changed, it will be taller and powered by a mechanized pulley.

The proposed flagpole will be 52-meters in height and 400 - 800 millimeters in width. It will replaced the old 32-meter flagpole that will be transfer to Kawit, Cavite.

The target date of the completion of the project is before December 30 in time for the Commemoration of the death anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal.
