MANILA, Philippines – Despite placing second to the last in the box office tills, action film "Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story" got the most number of awards during the recent 37th Manila Metropolitan Film Festival (MMFF) awards night held at Resorts World Manila. "Manila Kingpin" bagged 10 awards last night, including Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Sound Recording, Best Original Theme Song, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Gatpuno Villegas Cultural Award, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director and Best Festival Picture.
According to MMFF day 3 box office tally, fantasy movie "Enteng ng Ina Mo" ranked first with 91.8 million, followed by epic film "Ang Panday 2" with 51.5 million. Placing 3rd and 4th are horror movies "Segunda Mano" and "Shake Rattle & Roll 13" with 46.9 and 22.7 million respectively. Comedy flick "My Househusband" earned 20.8 million, while award contenders "Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story" and "Yesterday Today and Tomorrow" only made 7.9 and 4 million each.
